In a recent game i played against an opponent who predominently used the i-formation.
They had around 30 plays where they ran from this formation and 30 plays where the passed. My defence set up against the run on every occasion. I checked my playbook and although i have "prefer run" set up for this is do have a different formation in there for pass. Shouldnt the game have at keast switched it up a little? |

I think it depends on the opponent's play calling. Since he had an even amount of run and pass total for the game, it's possible he would do something like run, pass, run, pass, ect. Or maybe run, run, pass, pass, run, ect. If you had your defense play the run as a first choice, he'd have to do multiple passes in a row before your defense switches to your pass defense. If i understand it right, the more runs he does in a row, especially early in the game, the more passes it would take before the defense adjusts.

It looks like they always ran on 1st and passed on 2nd out of I-form, if you had 533 set for run on 2nd and a different formation for pass, it should have changed to the pass formation, as far as I know. What exactly does your defensive playbook say to do on 2nd against I-form?
