Today marks the day where Hulk Hogan, Wrestling superstar and maybe even GOAT, has passed away. Unrelating to some of the things he has done, he was one of the best.
What is everyone's opinion on this news? |

No opinion. Just sad.
Never nice to hear someone passed away. But it adds something extra to the sadness, when that person reminds you of the time when you had plenty of things to prove to the world ahead of you. It so happens, that my stay in the US corresponded nearly one-to-one with the top period of HH's career. Sad news. Thanks for sharing. |

I have a clear opinion on this, but I don't want to be taken as rude.
I can understand that this guy does mean something for some people and I don't have to understand why. We will wittness in the upcoming 10-20 years a massive increase of deaths by people known to a wide range of people, since they became famous when TV became the dominant medium world wide. Whether the persons influence was really THAT big and important will be up for debate, my personal take is, most will be forgotten in history beside some side notes and a chapter here and there. |

@Jack6, Can't the same be said about other entrepreneurs? Sport stars (how many ppl had a chance to witness Pele's skill live?). Actors and actresses. Musicians.

I refuse to consider Wrestling to be a sport ... (Yes, have seen it live once) ...
Hogan ... a guy with to much money and attention for his person. Sad for his family that he died, but beside that, absolutely zero feelings ... |

My post did only relate to Hogan on the 1st 2 sentences. The rest is general. Many 'stars' will die soon, and it will be public, because they had their 15 minutes of fame. Most of them won't be remembered in a generation or two. |

Out of curiosity, Pete. Wrestling? Meaning, one of the olympic sports, with the tradition reaching to the Greek olympic "games"? Or do you mean specifically the entertainment type, in which the wrestling skills are kind of like the shooting prowess of Clint Eastwood in his movies?
Personally I am not too fond of the wrestling as an olympic sport, either. And neither of boxing, climbing the walls, and many other. But I wouldn't go as far as to deny being a sport to any kind of fair (at least in theory) physical competition. I wouldn't call a sport clicking the computer games though, even if it requires a certain undeniable degree of physical activity for fingers  |

For sure he means the entertainment version.
The Olympic version is for sure a sport, whether some like it or not. But the entertainment version is plain simple a play. If anything, it‘s art, not sport. |
