Welcome to Season 62!
Welcome to the Fire league's 62nd season. This season, we will have a fuller roster of managers than we have had in a while, and I highly encourage participation from as many as possible on these forums. Help keep the game fun! I will be doing weekly reviews and/or previews of games of the week or marquee matchups. I may even start doing a fun little game of picks where I will list 3-5 games per week and each manager can pick who they think will win each. I will keep a running tally of points, and at the end of the season will announce the winner. Feel free to ask question for advice here as well, or in private. We are a community and enjoy the competition. If you ask for advice, we will give it. And when you do it on the forum, you can trust it will be good advice as if you are told incorrectly, others will point out the misinformation and give you the correct information. Competition is fun, and we all want everyone to be as good as they can be as it makes the entire league better. While we encourage a little friendly banter, please refrain from personal attacks or hate speech so that we can all enjoy the game. But never be afraid to tell someone how badly you're going to beat them this week, or boast when your team pulls off the upset win over a division rival! This is what makes the world go around. We can have fun, and banter, without the hate. Looking forward to this season! Good luck everyone! |

Season 62 is upon us!
Good luck to everyone, and I look forward to a season full of non bot games! If anyone has any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. We have several new managers in the league this season and I'm more than happy to give you advice to help you find the true beauty of this game. Also, this years draft thread is "Season 61 Draft" which in hindsight may have been confusing. Going forward, I'll match it up with the current season. But I labeled it 61 because it's based on the results of season 61, and all the scouting work was done in the season 61 offseason. Either way, let's hear what you got in the draft, how they project into your team/lineup. Name changes, etc.. |

Hell yeah! Welcome back guys!
I've been crazy busy at work this week so haven't had the chance to jump into weekly matchups or anything yet, but I should be able to get caught up within a few days. I wanted to run it by everyone, but Sea Devils have asked if we wanted to do another league vs league tournament this season. I'm down if you guys are. We don't have a set number of teams, but however many we want to join with they can match. So if you're interested, let me know! I will shoot out messages to individuals later today also to see if any of the new managers want to give it a go who may not yet be involved with the forums. |

Week 1: Matches of the Week
Charleston Battery @ Sydney Sloths Final Score: Sloths 14, Battery 6 This veteran clash lived up to its billing as a defensive struggle, with neither offense able to fully break through. The Charleston Battery scratched together just six points off a pair of field goals in the first half, while the Sydney Sloths capitalized on two key drives to pull away. Quarterback Play: For Charleston, Herman Noble (96 yds, 59% completions) and Harlan Rhodes (69 yds, 59% completions) split time but failed to find the end zone. The lack of explosive plays left the Battery grinding for every yard. Sydney’s duo had more punch: Heath Sexton threw for 149 yards and a touchdown, while Hector Prescott came in efficient, hitting 5 of 6 passes for 61 yards and another score. Both QBs averaged over 6 yards per attempt and delivered when it mattered. Game Summary: The Sloths struck first in the opening quarter with Sexton finding the end zone. Charleston answered with two field goals, but the Battery’s inability to punch it in haunted them. Prescott iced the game in the third with a second TD pass, while Sydney’s defense pitched a second-half shutout to secure the 14–6 win. Key Takeaway: Sydney’s quarterback rotation looks dangerous — both Sexton and Prescott showed they can run the offense. Charleston will need to figure out how to finish drives if they want to compete against top-rated squads. XVXCVX @ TideWater Harbormen Final Score: Harbormen 35, XVXCVX 33 While the veterans battled defensively, the rookies came out swinging in an offensive shootout. XVXCVX pushed TideWater to the limit, but the Harbormen survived thanks to balanced quarterback play and a monster third quarter. Quarterback Play: XVXCVX got mixed results: Duron Ziadie posted a strong line (113 yds, 1 TD, 104.43 rating), but Raynard Aldred struggled (67 yds, 31.8 rating, 0 TD). That inconsistency stalled drives and forced them into a frantic comeback. TideWater leaned on both QBs effectively. Adalberto Sutter threw for 230 yards and 4 touchdowns despite 4 interceptions, while Avery Pierce was steady, adding 290 yards and another score. The duo combined for over 500 passing yards, keeping constant pressure on the defense. Game Summary: XVXCVX struck first with a field goal and surged ahead 17–14 at halftime. But the Harbormen roared back in the third, outscoring their opponent 14–0, a cushion they desperately needed as XVXCVX mounted a furious 16-point rally in the fourth. In the end, TideWater held on by two points, 35–33, in an instant classic. Key Takeaway: Both teams proved they can put points on the board, but TideWater’s balanced air attack stole the spotlight. XVXCVX showed flashes, especially with Ziadie, but needs more consistency under center. Week 1 delivered both flavors of football: a defensive slugfest and an offensive fireworks show. Sydney proved their veteran poise in shutting down Charleston, while TideWater and XVXCVX showed that even newcomers can light up the scoreboard. If this is a sign of things to come, Season 62 of the Fire League is already shaping up to be one for the books. |
