Just looking at my team stats, it looks like very few fumbles are recovered by the defense. In real football, this is actually pretty close to a 50%/50% proposition.

May be the skills of the defense are not good enough to recover the ball. I don't know.
In 2% of my all over rushplays a fumble occured. Seem to be realistic I lost only 20% of my fumbles. |

My guess is that in RL, forcing fumbles is a skill. Recovering fumbles is mostly luck, but I think its like 50-60% for the defense versus 20% in RZA.

The suggestion is to raise the quote of defense recovered fumbles, Steve?

I'm not 100% sure how its being calculated now. In general, if you've watched football, you'll notice that a fumble recovery (not forcing the fumble) is a pretty random event (football bounce kind of funny). In general, if a 50%-50% chance I think...maybe even weighted more towards the defense because they tend to have more players around the ball.
I guess it could be influenced by skills - - to some degree. But, if its 20% defense/80% offense (as Buffalo suggested) on the recoveries, that's seems out of line with the actually numbers. Steve SD Blitz Last edited on 2011-11-02 23:38:19 by Solana_Steve |

The calculation is mainly based on the yardage between each players position and the ball (fumble location). The nearer a player is, the higher his chance is to secure the ball. Being the closest doesnt mean you secure the ball automatically.

Hmmm...but for a fumble to happen, doesn't the offensive player, defensive player and the ball all have to be at the spot of the forced fumble?
I don't see how the offense should recover 80% of them fumbles then?? Steve SD Blitz |

Just a quick look at my Running Backs, and I have 21 Fumble Recoveries and 22 Fumbles. Effectively there is no penalty for having poor carrying because I'm recovering 95% of them anyway.
