At 20 years old skills most likely have been developed (and we are limited on youth transfers to the big team), so is it is possible to have on the player page where you bid the choice of sending him to the youth academy or the big team?

The way it is now avoids this step, it just makes it easier to handle, and you have to consume senior tickets. However, there is a hole in that philosophy...some managers are filling their Youth Academy with crap, and avoid the redirection through the Academy to the Senior team that way ( hidden hint
 ). Maybe I could put such transfers "on hold", until the manager decides what to do with this guy? I don't like to add another question to the bid process itself! I would be more happy if I find a way to kill the hole in the concept, but I can't think of a single one! Managers should enhance their Academy to have more tickets and more space, and Players 20 or younger should always go through the academy. |

I do like the idea of having a hold on the player after winning the bid for the owner to then decide which route to go. Of course I would like to know if other owners feel the same way.

I like having a chance to give a 20yo extra training each week, so I keep 1 or 2 slots open in my academy just to do that. I just added a 20yo today who is going to get extra training for a few weeks.

I don't know, if the following is a proper solution:
I was thinking about a similar situation. I have used already 2 out of my 3 chances to transfer youth players to my senior team at the start of the season, because I had some holes on my team, and got some talented guys on RB and DL, I promoted promptly to the senior team to strengthen those positions. So here I am, with one slot left. I got a 20yr old for some time now, I'm still undecided on, to keep or let him leave via free agency. There is another talented guy, I got also very early in the season, who I gave a lot of focus with extra training points, though he's just 18. But he's ready to step into the line-up if injuries on certain positions should force me to consider transferring him to the senior team. Okay, now I would like for all youth players who are 20yrs old at the end of the season a free chance to transfer them to the senior team, or let them leave, so I don't have to spend my few chances on those players. I view the youth academy as both player development as well as practice squad. If I get a talented young guy, I keep him in the YA to develop him, and as soon as I think he's ready to play, I transfer him to the senior team. If neccessary, I cut a veteran (not a problem so far at this point). This is how NFL teams handle players on practice squads. They have a max of players they are allowed to have on their active roster, so they keep some they like around on the practice squad, so they are under contract, and can't be hired by other teams. This free transfer option could be used even in advance. For example, I know by week 10, I want to keep x players of age 20 in the YA after the season, then I can mark them, or give them a contract. From now on, though, they can't be transferred to the senior team until after the season ends. I hope, some of what I wrote makes sense to somebody else too, And it's not only me....  |
