How do you guys feel about developing rivalries over the long-haul? Not saying there'd be any special advantages during the game but more so broadcasting and publicity vantage... that game would be featured all over the site..
What ya think? |

Real simple... If you play a certain team a set number of times... and if those games are relatively close and the win/loss in those matches are similar you develop a rivalry with each other. I'm not saying there should be bonuses for the match (not saying there shouldnt either) but from a publicity standpoint... fan attendance/merchandising these should be maximized for that particular game as the buzz around it would be greater than your average game... sometimes even more than a playoff game..

The thing about rivalries is that they develop naturally. It is very difficult to try and institute some sort of rivalry system.

that's what we have the media for? lol...
nahh... true enough.. but I'm thinking the game can kinda tell when two teams are battling each other... the amount of games played against each other... the closeness of those games.. and the two winning a roughly even amount generally.. taking out geography those things generally constitute a rivalry. |

Don't know.
I like Rivalries, like the Iron Bowl or that Notre Dame - Michigan thing, but some rivalries seem to be setup by the media without any big history. But as far as I know, the games counts the games the teams playing in regular seasons, isn't it? Like my next playoff game: Leverkusen Leopards Aachen Killer Bees Wins 0 Wins 0 The counts are for game typs probably. So why not add a factor x for "HYPE" to get more people in the stadium if the amount of games gets higher? You will play a team from your division more often, and that would be the first place to start a rivalry. |

exactly Jack....
You play a team enough times... and if those games are competitive a rivalry will come about naturally. Makes for a real impression on how ticket sales and merchandise would be sold. |
