Full concert

Have seen this concert, when they made their stop in Dresden, Germany. It was just fantastic, even you had to learn that your heroes are getting older...the Thunderstruck riff is not that fast anymore, Brians voice is going away from time to time...but hey. It is ACDC, one of the few bands worldwide with such success, having streets with their name and so on...

Can't wait, hopefully the rumors are true, they are preparing a new tour...

Dredging up an old thread I know, but this is probably the most suitable. I'm not sure if this is shown on TV outside the UK, but I got this confirmation yesterday....

But the misery produced 2 of the finest albums ever to come from our shores, and inspired some of the best bands of the 80s and 90s.

'Unknown Pleasures' is genius. Especially New Dawn Fades and Day of the Lords on side 1 (sorry, 'Outside')

Joy Division never really did it for me .... 'Love will tear us apart' is a great track .... but I prefer them when they morphed into New Order .... the original mix of Blue Monday is genius (but not the 'cut-down' radio-shite versions like Blue Monday 88).

Strangely, 'Love will tear us apart' never quite did it for me either, and was the reason I dismissed them for many years, despite being a big fan of bands who cited them as a main influence (Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, etc).

Best New Order track, Procession or Ceremony (though that was actually a Joy Division song initially)

I never quite gelled with The Bunnymen, their songs were all a bit samey ... not a bad sound, but not fantastic either. The Smiths were just far too miserable and Morrisey far too pretentious ...... and , you're gonna hate me for saying this as I know what a Cure fan you are, other groups did it more for me than The Cure ........ The Sisters of Mercy were great (Eldridge has a voice like Bowie !), I always like certain of The Damned albums (Phantasmagoria) ........ and The Stranglers were always pretty cool too.

For me the best Bunnymen album was Ocean Rain - they tried something different with strings on most songs and it just worked beautifully.

I was (still am!) a big fan of the Sisters of Mercy, I saw them 4 times during the Floodland/Vision Thing era, but their sound, it comes from Joy Division.

The 2 songs I already mentioned, plus Atmosphere, Decades, Insight - listen to those and tell me you don't hear the influence in the Sisters' more melodic numbers.

I loved Phantasmagoria, in the late 80s, but it feels dated now (maybe not Shadow of Love, that's one hell of a tune).

And regarding the Cure, I've rarely been able to listen to entire albums of theirs, as they often felt bitty and disjointed, but between the fillers there were some of the best songs I've ever heard, especially on the Faith and Pornography albums.
