Hi fellas... I was fortunate enough to acquire a copy of the Football Rankulator, and have loaded all 1.1 leagues, schedules, and scores and have available your league rankings...
I will tell you that I wanted to keep it simple, so only used the following criteria... Winning % - 30% MOV (Margin of Victory) - 10% - Hopfully this equalizes the blowouts. SOS (Strength of Schedule) - 60% - This compensates some for playing only BOTs... Also, this only league games... Now let the arguments begin... It is really cool to be Nr. 1  in front of two spanish teams  , but i think thats probably also caused me playing two bot teams not using the relaxed mode at the beginning of the season...i have a lot of tough division games against non-bots coming up, so i am excited to see where i will finish at the end of the regular season.
@texat1suf Could you tell us (me) more about this Football Rankulator and i also don´t understand the meaning of the avg Rnk and Pts...the list is obviously ordered by the Pts, but what does the column avg. Rnk. exactly mean? Cheers  |

Be happy to oblige...
Taking yourself as example, and using the weights I assigned as described in the original post Your rank for winning % is 1 - - 1 X .3 = .3 Your rank for MOV is 7 - - 7 X .1 = .7 Your rank for SOS is 7 - - 7 X .6 = 4.2 Your total rank is 5.2 Your point total for winning % is 100 - - 100 X .3 = 30 Your point total for MOV is 70.5 - - 70.5 X .1 = 7.05 Your point total for SOS is 89.09 - - 89.09 X .6 = 53.454 Your total points 90.504 Remember all will change as we move futher into the schedule, since not all teams have played the same number of games, and since your opponents ranking is part of the SOS, it may be that you fall or rise simply because all of your opposition won or lost... Last season i lost 2 regular season games...against spanish teams (one was against you i think...), so please let me enjoy this little success of mine

Well the math is kind of long to explain, but the short of it is...
Your MOV rank is 7 which equates to 70.5 when compared across all 32 teams... Your SOS rank is 7 which equates to 89.09 when compared across all 32 teams... So what you summised is actually correct... You see the largest avg margin of victory is 58.4 by Turigtians the lowest avg margin of victory is -38.4 by Budapest Cowboys So Turigtians gets rank of 1 and points of 100 in MOV (margin of victory) and Budapest gets rank of 32 and points of 0 in MOV... Everyone else is assigned points based on their differential using the 100 point scale... You can see there is almost a 100 point differential in avg MOV so the scale is almost point for point... SOS is done using same scale and has much different resulting point total, because strength of schedule is nowhere near a 100 point split so the margin is much smaller... Hope this helped some... |
