Seems like there is no minimum incremental bid (except $1k) and sometimes bidding can be prolonged for a long, long time. Was wondering if having a 2% or 5% minimum (in addition to the $1k) rule might speed things up a little.

But why dont you just put the 50% in? This raises the amount very fast - even if only 1 party is doing that

Yes, it does...but then the other guy just responses by raising $1000k. Just seems like you'd get were you're going faster by forcing all parties to up the bid at some minimum percentage.

The cycling game I play has a 10% minimum increase. IT doesn't have much impact at first, but once you get to 6+ digits it speeds things along nicely.
But for now the best I can do is drive it up 40-50% each time I bid. It beats getting out of bed at 3AM local to join in the clickfest. btw - I like the fact that Pete feeds free agents into the transfer list at staggered times. At least once in a while guys come up when I'm awake.  |

Some managers employ the "put you to sleep" tactic in the bid war. They raise the bid the minimum. You raise, then they wait until the waning seconds of the timer and bid another 1k. This cycle repeats. I tried to do it myself, but it drove me more crazy than the other owner. lol I've had auctions go on for quite a while. They have little risk except time in this situation. IF you had an increment that became steep at a certain point they would have to think carefully about that next raise.
Another option is to limit the number of bids you get...although I'm not a big fan of that personally. |
