Well Some times it doesn't help when you have a bid war with some one past. Then other guy comes out of no where and join in.

May be a time limit on who can join the bids once they go over lets say 2-6 hour over the original deadline.

Restricted to only people who have made a previous bid.

the transfer market is not there to block people out of it

Maybe it would be much better to forget all suggestions based on the TM, and restart from zero.

What are the goals we want to achieve?

1.) Raise the bid sum faster
2.) Give every manager a chance to get new players, no matter of timezone

I just meant once the original date had past for the player bid to be closed. Which is around 3 days it seems.

So once the biding on a player was extended X amount of time then it would become a close bid between anyone who has already put a bid on him.
So prevent last sec entrance in a biding war that was already hours or days long than it original end date.

But it was only a thought

You could try a system for bid increase like this instead of the % system

or what ever value you think it should be.

Where min bib
in between 1k-50k was 1k
but between 50k-100k would be 2k
100k-150k 4k
150k-200k- 8k
16k
32k
64k

You get the point

yep, but that was not my point. There are so many different suggestions and opinions out there about the TM, it is just hard to keep track of that all.

Yep.

I saw it suggested earlier, but why not simply allow one hidden bid per manager. Highest bid before the deadline gets the player. People can see how many teams have bid, but not what amount they have bid. You can edit your bid at any time, but only upwards...

example:
I see player x with no bids, and I bid 100k
1 hour before deadline I see 5 other teams have placed bids, so I can increase my bid. However I do not know what their bids are.

No deadline extensions
No messing around
Simple
Minimal advantage to those able to be online at the deadline time

It would need defined minimum values for players (for simplicity, base these on the player wages)

For me this is the actual best suggestion. But we have a defined minimum value for player now and the market will show the true value of a player.
The only problem is how to prefent cheating? You can bid 20 Mio on crap of your "friend" without any other bid on the player.

i think that the market as it is now is the best possible to have in an online management game where it is allowed to trade/buy players in some form and nearly all other management games that i have played have this type of playermarket (exept 1 game that had both trades and a free agency market).

This market as it is today is fair to all managers since players are sold 24h a day. somethimes a superstar player is sold at night and sometimes he is sold during the day. its get even in the end i think.

To be succesfull and stay at the top in a managergame you should put time and effort in and in my eyes this also include in getting up in the middle of the night just to be able to participate in an eventually bidwar for a player you want.

After a few seasons all of us will have pretty good developed players and some of these will hit the market. And by looking at the "team distribution i would say that it is pretty ecually divided for european and american players. Not that many in asia tho (yet)i took this up cuze of the time difference)).

As it is now it is:
* Nearly imposible to cheat (due to this max startingbid the seller can place on his player)
* everyone gets a chance to get/bid on a player (if they have/are willing to put in the cash that is needed)
* the player gets evaluated by the community for what price he is worth.

Some of us have lots of free time and others dont, but nothing is fair either if it is in real life or in here.

The answer is quite simple, and is the system used in Hattrick.

The results of transfers are visible to all, there is a button to click on to mark a transfer as being dodgy... this alerts the admin/GM.

The admin takes a look - if anything looks wrong he changes the prices based on agreed values. In the absence of true market values, this can be judged by the level of other genuine bids - or alternatively the player can be offered to the 2nd best bidder (as a 2nd chance offer similar to those in Ebay).

I agree. Just leave the transfer system as it is.

If you want to add more players or add less players that is a separate topic but anything would be OK with respect to that.

No matter what the system, there will be some people unhappy about it. "You can't make all the people happy all of the time."
