I was checking to see how different leagues are represented in the top 25. I know it is for fun, but I was curious.
The league with the number 1,2,5, and 22 ranked teams (Monarch) are tied with the most bots for a league with 21. The league with 6, 10, 13, and 18 (Sea Devils) also has 21 bot teams in it. The league with the most teams represented in the top 25 (Claymore) which are 8,9,11,14, and 24 has the second most bot teams with 18. The most under represented leagues have the least amount of bots: Admirals have 8 bots but only two representatives at 2 and 23. Galaxy has only 7 bots and one representative at 7. The other leagues fit the correlation. Dragons have 11 bots and 3 representatives 12,15, and 25. Fire have 11 bots and 3 representatives 7,17, and 20. thunder have 15 bots and 3 representatives at 4,16, and 19. So if I made a chart: League:Representatives:Highest Rated in League:Number of bots Claymore:5:8:18 Monarchs:4:1 and 2:21 Sea Devils:4:6:21 Thunder:3:4:15 Fire:3:7:11 Dragons:3:12:11 Admirals:2:3:8 Galaxy:1:21:7 Seems to be a direct link between bots and standings... |

As part of the Admirals region, I got to be subjective, and diagree
Curent bots in Galaxy: 1.1 - 7 2.1 - 22 2.2 - 21 Curent bots in Admirals: 1.1 - 8 2.1 - 0 2.2 - 0 Who's the most competitive now!  |

I'm using just 1.1 as those are the teams used in the rankings.

Sure, I totally agree with you.
I just thought it was fun that both 2.x are full in Admirals. I wonder if Pete is opening a 3.x league for that region or if that won't happen before all regions are full. |

galaxy had more bots than admirals in the 1.1s until very recently admirals lost 3 players quite recently i guess

To settle it once and for all it would be fun to have the top 25 in a friendly cup to truly determine who is number one.

you guys are correct... those leagues with more bots will have their SOS or strength of schedule askew simply because the bots are playing each other and getting wins... so it simply fools the machine into believing it must be tougher competition... You won't believe this, but we have a bot ranked as high as 127 out of 256 with a record of 9-6 in the all bot division and 7-4 in the conference...
I've tried many things to compensate, and if you will recall, the rankulator was designed for college... Making the bots Div II or Div III teams simply removes them from the ranking system completely since the Divisions are ranked separately... I've tried manipulating the numbers but haven't come up on one that I really like and seems to fit, except limiting Margin of Victory to 25... still playing with it, and I wouldn't change it until next season just the same... I'm just hoping like everyone that we fill up the bot slots... sooner than later... But it is just for fun, so take it all with a grain of salt just the same... Glad you all are enjoying it...!!! |
