Yeah, i think on Sport 1+ Günther Zapf is the one who will commentate the superbowl. He is decent and has lots of experinece dating back to the 90s where Premiere was broadcasting the NFL.
He is probably the best we have...so if you have to watch the superbowl in german i would choose him...

The upside of watching it in German is that there are less commercials, since they don't manage to sell all the slots. So they have one or two own cameras in Indy and show some impressions from the sidelines or the stands.

On the other hand THAT'S THE TIME when the aforementioned experts and commentators come into play...
But two things to defend them:
1. This is the only football game which is shown in free-TV all year. And it is more an event than a game (official stat from nfl.com: 40% viewers IN THE US are not interested in football). So of course there are a lot of people who don't know what's happening and so it is okay when they explain what a punt is.
2. It is unbelievable hard to comment a football game without 1-2 helpers on your headset who feed you with stats or help you out with their observations.

Of course the standard of German commentators is not near the one in the US. But please, don't hate them. Come to Hannover, watch a game of the Hannover Spartans and have a chat with their live-commentator. You'll find him at the 50-yard-line on the main stand and he'll be glad to have a drink with you once you revealed yourself as a RZA-player

He still sucks.

What I can't get is, why the don't let the original commentary be send on the second channel.

Then the germans with football lobotomy can what the german stuff and the others can enjoy the US stuff.

And while we are at it: why don't they offer the original advertising stuff...I mean, I am not a fan of advertising, but the SuperBowl Ads are an own competition...would be nice to see them, somehow...

Does this makes sense

Easy. In the public TV stations, commercials are not allowed after 8 O'clock PM.

And the private TV station will not get money of it, so why send then?

I understand the reason, but I don't like it

OK, that Sat.1 broadcast was as expected.
- stupid
- boring
- one dimensional
- and the director should be ashamed for missing the TD in the first half.

Frank Buschmann (one of the guys at the mike) is joke, a clown, a stupid dick and should thank every day on earth where a CEO of a TV company giving him a job.
Unbelievable!
That second guy as not that stupid, but was outyelled and out-stupified by Frank Buschmann. Still, that second guy (can't remember his name) had some brain fart too.

at least I was able to skip half of it, since I watched the game timeshifted starting at 4 a.m.

I had 3.5 quarters on ESPN...as expected: knowledge, good talking, facts and the last 5 mins on SAT1...and can confirm Jacks opinion.

Vollmer, Vollmer...Vollmer and his Pats, -G.O.A.T-, Vollmer and the Pats.....can't stand it. And this is not related to Sebastian!
