I was thinking about it last nite, and I wonder how a silent auction would work for the TM. Everyone privately set there max bid before the deadline and the highest bid gets it.

I'd rather see direct negotiations between teams for a player than a silent auction, but I think both are alot worse than the current system

I think direct negotiations make it way to easy to cheat. For the sake of the game I won't elaborate beyond that.

I would rather see what we have now and if you wanted to add a feature where someone could put a max bid in, then fine. If they can't be online they would at least have the opportunity with the max bid. However those who are bidding back and forth online would still have the chance to outbid the max. The only thing is....the people submiting the max bids would HAVE to be limited on their bidding by the funds they have at that time in their account. So, someone couldn't have 50 million in their account and then place 4 max bids of 50 million at the same time.

So, someone couldn't have 50 million in their account and then place 4 max bids of 50 million at the same time. I'm ok with this but I'm wondering how it would work because I'd rather just enter my max bid then get into bid wars and I'm assuming most people would take that route. Say you and another manager are fiercely bidding on a player and it gets down to the end and you both realize you didnt get him because some other guy beat you with a max bid. You might start to just max bid and ride with it.... but again who knows it could be the other way around in which the bid wars win out mostly. I'm just thinking that one way or another given two options of bidding one of them is going to trump the other. Its funny cause the more I think of it.. people will begin to outbid against themselves because of the the fear some manager out there put a max higher than their tender.. The TM stories are going to be spectacular... God I want this to happen. |
