Was it necessary to demonstrate your ability to loose against the pass against a team from my division?

Another question: Seven field goals, no touchdowns? Your style?

a LOL for the first one

I am playing a very safe playbook when it comes to 4th downs. Since season 1 day 1. The result is what you see there...

Maybe my playbook is too safe... 11 games this season, 11 FG good, 6 missed.

How about friendly?
Can you win by more passing game?

Going back to the original point of the thread...

It seems to me defenses overall in this game are TOO reactionary and dont do enough to dictate the offense. Its cool that the offense has a wrinkle in which they can run or pass over a certain side more often than not but to offset this I think the defense needs that sort of game element.

Why cant the defense have a "run" (or pass) concentrated option that better allows them to narrow their focus for that particular game (you could possibly even further narrow the focus by focusing on side of the line or one WR)? If I KNOW the team I'm playing against is going to run the ball 48 out of 50 plays I should have the option to tell my defense to ignore the pass so to speak. Of course the counter to this is if you narrow your focus on defense you are way open to getting burnt if the offense does contrary to what you are trying to stop.

This way against a "Dark-Wing" offense I atleast have the option or raising my defenses power level to match what he is trying to do.

may the better manager win...

perhaps a future defensive option:

Allow managers to commit the Free Safety to defending the run, and allow managers to assign him to center, left, or right side.

The effect would be the manager gets an extra defender at the point of attack, but opens the secondary up everywhere else.

So against an expected Darkwing offense running/passing to the offense's left, he gains a defender on his right side.

Better yet (but lots of programming):
-modify the game engine so the defense recognizes an unbalanced attack that focuses on the left, right, or center.
-give managers an option in their Defensive Gameplan to "Commit FS to unbalanced attack".
-and let managers set the % that defines unbalanced.

Then I can tell the game engine to commit my FS when the offense is running 60% of it's plays to the same side or center. (or 50%, or 75%, etc)

(I use the Free Safety in the example, but it could be the Strong Safety just as easily, I guess)

thats a good development Lee. It may be a bit complicated but thats almost unavoidable. Eventually the defensive side of the is going to have to have atleast comparable options to those of the offense or else people will find continue to find wrinkles (note: IMO the 'Dark-wing' offense as I understand isn't an exploit as much as an unfair advantage)as they more and more become specialized in offense due to an overbalanced side or type of attack.

You can already set your playbook options to focus on defend vs run or defend vs pass.
