If you team blitzs during a rushing play, is it only because they were "fooled" by the offense and think its a running playing?
Is there any positive to blitzing during a rushing play? I see comments in the game text like Player X blitzs...but does he ever tackle the RB? Steve SD Blitz |

I would think that it should give you a chance to tackle the RB for a loss.
But it does seem to just open up your Defense to a longer run play |

It is a bit of both...
The blitzer can tackle the RB, but not as someone would expect it to be. This is why it is on my "important todos" for the engine, beside {censored}, {censored} and some similar stuff |

We'll I suppose he can only catch him if he running to his side and he breaks through.
I guess its also possible that the blitzer either catches the RB in the backfield as the handoff occurs or catches him from behind as he runs in a different direction. Steve SD Blitz |

Steve SD Blitz The engine does not think in "sides", it thinks in distances mainly. This might cause a DE from the other side to tackle... |

I think the engine is working right on this part..
7:59 1 and 10 to go on opp 46, Thanh Ferris (OC) snaps the ball to Asa Gallardo (QB), who hands off to Leland Dillon (HB/C), he starts running over the right end, Veli Saksela (DE/R) breaks through, Veli Saksela (DE/R) brings Leland Dillon (HB/C) down, nice tackle, forward progress: tackle for loss of 1 yards (I-formation vs. 4-4-3) This is what I would expect to see when the DE breaks thru |

My best defender is outstanding in breaking blocks, but for me it seems to be not a advantage for him to tackle the RB. So i must be patient for the engine update.

Many DEs have good Speed - which should allow them to transition from area to area (I'm guessing defensive players move from area to area Just like a RB would). Some running plays develop slowly (or the RB cuts back, whatever) and that would give a DE time to search and destroy. |
