Intelligence .... how important is it for all players ?

I'm in two minds on this one , the Draft players have a high average intelligence , but ... I'm not sure if the draft players have high intel because they need it or high intel because nobody wants a dumb draft player.
I can quite easily see the need for high intel with some positions (QB & LB, for example) , but for others I'm not so sure.... for example,do you REALLY NEED much intel for a FB or a DL or a KR ??

My general rule is if a player needs good vision then a decision is needed to be made. hence some INT is good

Interesting ....... I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but applying your rule to the draft .... the average Intel for WR's is noticeably higher than for CB's, but the average Vision for CB's is way higher than WR's.
Food for thought nonetheless.

My oppinion is LB, SF, CB, DE should have high intelligence in defense. I don't see how other DLinemen could benefit from it. The main thought behind this is, whoever can make an interception or sack a QB, needs to be smarter than the avarage.

In offense I only look for very smart QBs. Even if WRs and TEs use vision too, I don't think high intel is much needed for these positions. An OC might need it though, but that's not a prioirty for me. OTs could need it to better block agile DEs, but OGs and FBs don't need it imo.
With RBs my feelings are a little mixed. They should need high intelligence to make the right split second decisions during the run, or to see the right blocks in from of them and run the best route possible. But I don't know how the current engine handles this, and my gut tells me it doesn't, so as of now RBs can be as stupid as a rock.

That being all said, I still set a limit to how low I'm willing to go with intelligence for every position, but the more the merrier.

I think it depends on how Peter views intelligence.

There is intelligence how we think of it in everyday life.

Then there is football intelligence where you are someone who can identify the formations and figure out possible outcomes, memorize playbooks but at the same time you sound kind of dumb in the real world.

If it is the former then I agree with the above post, if it is the latter than I think intell is important for all but especially for the ones mentioned above.

In my opinion: INT is the factor how a player could translate things he is seeing on the field into his own actions, how he can translate ideas given by the O/D-brains into real action, how his overall football knowledge is about...
