TEs should have 1 of the broadest skill sets needed, everything except kicking, punting and tackling! basically anything you want an OL or WR to have your TE wants as well hope this helps

so i am almost right but this is a game and i think defense and attack need to have same amount of skill some think like
OL need the same amount of skill as DL
WR need the same amount of skill as CB (maybe LB and FS)
TE need the same amount of skill as LB (maybe CB and FS)
to keep the calculate in balance
and maybe i am just miss understand both the game and the calculate

TE is one of those positions where Talent is not very important. There are so many skills to train, he's not like to ever hit his caps.

- Strength is more important than Speed, imo, but a TE wants both.
- Blocking and Catching are equally important.
- So Vision and Positioning for catching the ball
- Footwork and Agility for Blocking.

So, as mentioned above, that is a lot of training! (And I don't have a TE Asst Coach, so my guys will never hit their caps!!)

However, I rate TE as one of the less important positions.

I think defense is just a simpler sets of skills.

"See it".
"Hit it."

So defenders will naturally develop faster than some of the offensive positions, especially TE and FB, which are required to block, as well as Catch and Carry.

If you're heavy rushing team, TEs with good strength and blocking can be very useful IMO

You would think that. But I am not convinced they need much blocking skill. I've never seen a TE or FB miss with a Missed Block stat. So does that mean anyone can fill that position with minimum blocking skills, or does it mean the game engine does not track that stat?

Very interesting question you've raised

It is a very interesting question. I never seen TEs or FBs miss blocks either. Blocks/Broken is tracked on stats page, not sure what "broken" is though.

As for the skills a receiving TE i find invaluable. I noticed some teams go with dime defence vs shotgun 2WR, leaving DBs to cover TEs. Thats a game winning miss match.

Speaking of TEs, is there a way to let the QB know to throw to the TE? I was thinking of setting the pass direction to "only middle". Would that help?
