The easy part about training an oline is that you only have a handful of skills to worry about: Strength, Blocking, Positioning, Vision, and Footwork.

The frustrating part is that only one physical skill seems useful. So if you are training strength/blocking and end up capping early on the blocking you end up with a possible te or fb instead of an oline. If that happens once in a while that is fine, but it doesn't. I end up stockpiling possible fb's and te's now. lol.

Anyone else running into the same problem?

If so, what else besides fb and te are you doing with those players? Do you just say screw it, and not worry about the wasted blocking training and go another direction? Sell them?

I assume you meant capping strength not blocking above.

What I've been doing lately is finding physical caps in my players, so training at 90%, and training Positioning, Vision, or Footwork at 10%. This gives me the flexibility to put players that cap low in Strength or Speed anywhere.

If you mean trainable skills, it pretty much only leaves speed and agility. PC goes without saying. The rest of the trainable skills are either ball handling (carrying, kicking, catching, punting and passing) or only relevant for defense (tackling)

Ditto.

I am training everyone at 90% speed/strength and 10% vision/positioning (vision for probable defense or QB and pos for probable offense) till caps.

If your OLiners are maxed on Strength, and you don't want to train Speed or Agility, then the best thing to do is what I do with my punter: 10% PC each training.

Or, you can overtrain Strength (then post and let us know how sloooow it is).

Yes, so I have some early guys that I trained up in blocking and some have decent strength and some don't. The second way of guys, I'm training in strength first and those that are acceptable will eventually replace the low strength guys from the first way.
