Okay, I finished my offensive playbook. It's around 130 lines. It feels like I'm drawing up a basic computer program, lo! Very cool. Anyway, I'm about to make my first defensive playbook...any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

defensive set ups:
5-3-3 Main run defense but can give up long TDs
3-3-5 Good pass defence, No long TDs, but poor against the run.
3-4 Best all round defense. Will give up some long TDs
4-4 Good all round defense. Maybe slighly better against the run ,but gives up a few more long TDs than the 3-4.
4-3-4 Has a bad reutation.
Dime No better pass defense than the 3-3-5 but the worst run defense.
5-2 A run defense gives up long TDs.

Its good to mix up the D formations. My advise use mostly 3-4/4-4.
Run defense in short yardage. Pass Defenses end of Halves or winning by alot. Throw in the others occasionally.
Remember if the other team is close to your goal line, giving up a long TD is not that big a deal. So its less risky to play 5-2/5-3-3.
If your linbackers are fast Blitz often especially 3rd down. Except if you are sure the other team is running. Then Blitzing will hurt you a little bit
Dont Blitz Safties. That feature is broken.
Have fun experimenting.
Good Luck

Does low intelligence on a QB increase the likelihood of throwing interceptions?

Low int doesnt help with good decisions, like selecting a pass target

My very low intelligence backup QB played almost half the snaps. He threw four interceptions in a supercup game I lost but where i handedly out gained my opponent in yardage. If I set my starting QB position to not substitute, will my he still be able to play with proficiency late in the game and overtime?

He will be able, but exhaustion will likely kill parts of the success

5 interceptions in a game may not be solely because of the low intelligence of the quarterback.
If this were true, the problem would be solved with QB with intelligence 50, the maximum. And it's not like that, QBs with Intelligence 50 also have interceptions.

A QB can throw for 800 passing yards without an interception and the next game have 6 interceptions. And he is the same player! Or a defense, yesterday an impenetrable wall and tomorrow a wall of paper.

You have to look not only at your own players/tactics but also study the opposing team. It's what makes this game fun, and sometimes unpredictable. Things happen due to multiple factors that are very difficult to control (all of them).
