To be fair, i think Pete has done whatever he could to recognise multi-national holidays in the past. I remember the St. Patrick's day background.
As a trainee of the Hippie movement, i say celebrate whatever you choose to celebrate. Let the world know you are celebrating, then we can celebrate with you! Imagine if the whole world knew how to party together |

For today, we do only celebrate because it is (more or less) the country where this sport originates... I understand, I understand ... But I just want to point out that it is complicated and delicate celebrate local holidays (Independence Day in USA, St. Patrick in Ireland, ...) in a global game formed by American, Irish, German, Spanish, French, Canadian, Chinese, Polish , Russian, Japanese .... Also I have a clear one thing: The game is yours and in your house you're the boss. |

Hm, I guess some of you are putting too much into this gesture.
For myself it is easy: the majority of the users is US, based on the chosen flags for the teams. So why not celebrating a day with a good portion of history in, from that country. 4th of July is less political for me, at least there is real connection to current politics for me. It is just a day like the 3rd of October... |
