Word came quickly to RZA football headquarters that the very first Grey Goose Invitational had enough teams to be granted a tournament hosted by the Atma City Xenos.

“We got the call that the tournament was officially endorsed by the RZA league, and Atma City is very happy to be this tournament’s host, good luck to all teams.” Owner of the Xenos, Xeno72 said.

The inaugural Grey Goose Invitational brackets have been set. First game takes place on 2013-05-19 featuring these teams and their respective Grey Goose Invite divisional positions:

GG Gold Division:

O-Town Raiders @ Welshpool Bulldogs
Split Donkeys @ Free Agents Mascot

GG Iron Division:

Dakota Revolution @ Jersey Scorpions
Atomic Potatoes @ Motol Ducks

GG Silver Division:

Vikeings @ Barnim Steel
San Antonio Armadillos @ Danish Southern Cowboys

GG Steel Division:

Fareham Demons @ Stockport Sabres
Xenos @ Undertaker 21-0

There are very little sparks of controversy as to how the tournament is set up. Each team has been examined, and based on the creators of the Cup’s formula for which teams are ranked as they are, they have concluded the strategy of #1 ranked vs ranked #16, #2 vs #15 and so on in the start off of the tournament.

The Toilet Bowl, also hosted by Atma City is down to four more teams. Because of the breaking news of the Grey Goose Invitational, the Toilet Bowl exclusive is to be in tomorrow’s news.

With two games played by all teams participating in the inaugural Grey Goose Invitational, expected and unexpected results have occurred throughout all divisions.

The Gold division has the Free Agent Mascots standing alone on top at 2-0. They have only allowed two touchdowns in both games, but this comes as no surprise, as they are number one in their league in touchdowns against with only nine.

The ferocious Mascot offense has shown up in full force in both their games, as their ground game has pounded defenses, picking up 30 first downs against the Split Donkeys and 27 first downs against the O-Town Raiders. Mascots hope to move on to the finals today versus the 0-2 Welshpool Bulldogs.

The O-Town Raiders hope to rebound from the 17-52 loss to the Mascots, and settle the 1-1 tie they share with the Donkeys at home today. The massive Raiders airforce led by Ty Schilling hope to fire up the crowd, and earn a spot in the final four of the tournament.

Also standing alone in their division are the Motol Ducks. Undefeated in the Iron division, the Ducks new GM Mr. Pumpkin has been non-stop impressive moving the team forward, after earning a place in Admirals 1.1 league. “The Jersey Scorpions gave us a scare, but we held on for the win,” Mr. Pumpkin was quoted as saying after the 28-24 win.

Hopeful prospect for the Ducks QB Ihor Holik in his second season has shown great progress and promise. Ihor displayed consistency against the Atomic Potatoes, passing for 61% and 168 yards in a 40-0 win, and 62% passing effort against the Jersey Scorpions in a thriller, winning 28-24. Ducks host the Dakota Revolution at home in White Hart Lane Stadium at 21:00:00 today.

The fan-voted most watched division in the Grey Goose Invitational is the Silver Division. The Barnim Steel and the Danish Southern Cowboys both stand at 2-0, and face each other at Hope Fields Stadium, home of the Cowboys. After two games, the Cowboys have yet to allow a touchdown, and the Steel is the only team that has cracked the century mark, beating the Vikeings 101-7.

The Cowboys have a habit of scoring in every single quarter so far, and the Steel has done the same. The Barnim Steel features a powerful ground attack, as two running backs in both games have delivered over 100 yards rushing each. The Steel also lead all teams in the tournament with most points scored at 150. The Danish Southern Cowboys display a surprising and unpredictable approach from both the ground and the air. Kick-off is at 20:00:00.

In the Steel Division, the Undertaker 21-0 opened up early against the Atma City Xenos with a 24-0 first quarter lead, and never looked back winning 55-0. They then survived a late in the game drive by the Fareham Demons in the 4th quarter and held on to win 28-24. The versatile effort of QB Hilario Serra with his passing and running has proven a factor for the Undertaker and their wins. “We got out-played, plain and simple” defensive team captain Teddy Tribble of the Xenos said after the loss.

Redemption came for the Xenos when playing the Stockport Sabres. In a nearly unanimous expected loss, the stingy Xenos defensive wall was up again, squeaking out a win 9-7. Critics of the Xenos were quick to point out their ‘off and on’ defensive output.

“We mostly have the personnel that we want, it’s just a matter of them getting comfortable in their positions and assignments. Patience is a virtue?” Head coach Ramazian asked at the press conference.

Xenos face a tough Fareham Demons and the Sabres welcome the Undertaker. The Grey Goose Invitational is showing its legitimacy, and all teams are poised for a big victory.

Thanks, and thank you too for participating . I love to write press releases, but wow 16 teams is a lot to write and research, lol. But it helps when teams write releases, it makes it easier for me to compile information. It's how I learned about Ihor, lol.
