Hey, he'll have role in pass catching. He's not worthless. Besides, you can't forget about Kenneth Dixon. His YAC is impressive.

Not a Packers fan, but how long can Rodgers sustain that level without giving some help on O-line... Bennett is a fantastic blocker but he's not the solution.

Pro Football Focus' #1 OLine in pass blocking, and #5 overall ... 90% of the league would kill for that line?

Any other QB not named Aaron Rodgers would have been sacked at least 30 times more! Plus they did let go of TJ Lang and they flat out suck in run blocking. I think they were largely overrated thanks to Rodgers escape artist number. So let's see what happens this year

Rodgers had one of the longest times to throw of any QB in the league last year. Very few held onto the ball longer ... (Russell Wilson was #1)

Some of that is definitely Rodgers scrambling, but PFF breaks down the film of every single play, with multiple people analyzing it. Most of Rodgers plays were him waiting / praying one of his WRs would break open. They started to in the second half on that amazing run, but the fact that there were SO many times he held onto it 4 seconds+ with zero pressure is why they were the #1 rated pass protection line, and there was a BIG gap between them and second place. Hardly over rated ... the fact that Rodgers had a hard time finding someone open in the early part of the year despite getting a clean pocket for 4-5 seconds is a sad comment on the WR core, not the OL.

Well it's my bad, I remember more the plays of Rodgers scrambling under pressure than the the long waits for someone to get open without anything happening on the play.

That said they still don't know what they're doing on run blocking, or were their running backs THAT bad?

The only RB retained is Ty Montgomery, a converted WR part way through last season, I think that tells the tale of what the Packers thought of their incumbents.

Heads have rolled but I do think that Lacy was on the right track at the beginning of the season, before getting in a slump. The question would be if you have a run block problem on a great pass blocking OL, how do you fix it without fucking up what you do good?

A grossly overweight Eddie Lacy was getting 5.1 yard per carry behind that O line until he broke himself ...

Ty Mongomery wasn't awful mind you in the second half of the year (finished at 5.9ypc) - but I think they were afraid to give him too many carries, he was around 8-9 carries most games. I can understand not wanting to dump 20+ touches per game (incl receptions) onto a guy who hadn't been a full time RB since high school.

Where they took Williams (4th rnd), Jones (5th rnd), and Mays (7th rnd) in the draft, and picked up undrafted Stanback after, they're apparently happy with Montgomery taking on more of a load this season, and figure the shotgun approach - one of the youngsters at least will pan out. I'm a little surprised they didn't bring in one veteran, or keep Christine Michael, who they released a couple of days ago ... he looked pretty good for Seattle + Green Bay in limited action last year. (and is visiting with the Patriots right now)

*edit* - Oh and Lacy is apparently 255+ now, and starting P90X, Beach Body, and probably a few more diet/exercise programs depending if he can get promotional $$$ from those too. Will be interesting to see what kind of shape he's in when camp rolls around.
