I got my #2 Nedic. I had lots of defensive players in my top10:

#3 Annan Kulawanit LB
#4 Manitho Lehner DL (as LB)

#5 Thongkon Kantawong QB <- - - - - - - - - - - (39 for me due to not needing a QB)
#6 Raga Lam WR (as future TE)
#7 Saladin Rashid WR <- - - - - - - - - - - (31 for me due to teamwork)
#8 Michael Iita LB
#9 Stanislav Abdurahmonov DL
#10 Collin Chisholm DL

Menéndez was clearly top1 for me (young + phisycals + intelligence + traits). Why was lower on your draft? Are talent and experience key factors for you?

And why was Abdurahmonov so low in your draft? I think I'm missing someting important

Experience was the main factor that pushed Menéndez down on my list. Regardless, your draft board looks pretty similar to mine. This was my top 12:

#1 Collin Chisholm DL (or LB)
#2 Annan Kulawanit LB (or CB)
#3 Angelo Nedic DL (LB)
#4 Saulius Arlauskis DL
#5 Ubwa Obasanjo DL
#6 Major Nwoamoh WR (or TE)
#7 Ismael Toma OL
#8 Raga Lam WR (TE)
#9 Stanislav Abdurahmonov DL
#10 Michael Iita LB
#11 Braulio Menéndez LB
#12 Pavel Zotov WR (or TE)

There were a two stinkers drafted in the first 6 picks that I didn't even have rated... I'm thinking the Jacks are going bot soon

I think there is just one guy shouting loudly about speed not being important for QBs. But he is the same guy shouting that Intelligence is not important for WRs and Teamwork is not important for OL. I'd also take into consideration that he is an avid trader on the board. Frequently buying borderline players and trying to flip them for a profit, so there may be some bias in his information.

My starting QB also has low speed (40.5), but his other talents make me look past this weakness. Plus I refuse to play football by the Engine's rules

Lehner was #13 for me. Old guy with no Teamwork and below average experience. He was the highest 23 year old on my board though. For defenders, I had Chisholm, Kulawanit, Nedic, Arlauskis, Obasanjo, Abdurahmonov, Iita, and Mendez all above Lehner.

Ivy (Brkic) was #65 for me. Brick Wall is nice, but I can't tolerate 23.5 Teamwork.

I don't really worry about age. Most draft picks look like they can be trained to my personal baselines before or by the time they reach 30 years old. I may factor in experience as my team gets older, but at the moment all my draftees have been able to get playing time on my senior team as starters or as contributors on special teams and on my developmental team. Lehner would have immediately been available to me in all three instances.

I have Chisholm at #16, Kulawanit at #5, Nedic at #4, Arlauskis at #2, Obasanjo at #12, Abdurahmonov at #23, Ita at #9 and Menendez at #7.

Ivy's (Brkic) low teamwork will limit some of his effectiveness during training and may eventually get him sold off if other players develop faster than he does. He's 1 of 17 DL on my roster (most are under 25). He'll play special teams on my senior team and DT and special teams on my developmental roster to start. If he's able to survive my Transfer Market binges and develops at the rate I expect, he'll only ever play NT or DT.

I don't think you're missing something, my draft ranks probably vary wildly from others because I want players that are 45+/45+ on my team. Obviously, I can't fill every position with these types of players, so I've made small compromises and exceptions. I will compromise to 1 point below to 44 for speed and/or strength. The exceptions I'm willing to make are on the OL where they have no speed requirement but are required to have 48+ strength. Also, if a player has 40+ intelligence, and can play QB (45+ INT) or CB (40+), I may be willing to make a steep exception and only require that they have at least 40 strength.

Although I had him ranked at #23, Abdurahmanov was a 1st round quality player in my eyes because I was willing to gamble that his speed wasn't capped, but if it were, he would only be suitable to play OL on my team with a speed of 42.3.

Picking at #27 and knowing I 'd miss out on the top defensive players I gambled on a QB

Picked up Romero (now named High) with 49.7 Strength and Strong Arm Trait - also has 3.5 Exp

Speed is capped though at 40.6

Judging by the comments on these forum boards the seems to be no clear consensus as to the true effect of speed / strength on sacks / interceptions

Any thoughts ?

Speed is definitely a factor in sacks and it is stated in the manual that, "A QB can try to escape from the blitzing player by outrunning him with speed." I think that for him to be effective at QB, you will need to use more formations with available FBs. I had him ranked #28 because I was going to gamble that his speed wasn't capped, but I also thought that I could get him trained to baselines by age 30 if I needed to convert him to OL. I think he'll make and a pretty good guard/center eventually.

Got my draft order #9. Took a flyer on a position of need and got a bad cap. Oh well.

EDIT: looks like my second round pick is slightly better than round one, since no cap. Luck of the draw I guess.

Been a bit under the weather last couple of days, which I'm using as an excuse for my worst draft. Second rounder was worse than the first, twin trait OL but STR capped at 44.5. Not sure what I was thinking TBH, thought I had three of the five guys who went immediately after rated higher.

But hey, didn't need (or expect) anything from this draft so may just sell them all.

Not bad second rounder who may hit the TM in a couple of seasons when skills are built up a bit, or may hang around depending on how the roster changes.

As for my draft picks:

1st round: Selected 21 year old LB Iita with the #13 pick, my #4 choice. Speed is red at 45, not horrible, not great. 50 strength and intel makes him a MLB. 3.5 experience with a trait... I'm happy with him. One of the positions I was looking for along with the DL.

2nd round: Chose 20 yo OL Nsengiyinya with pick #45, my #2 choice. Young, max strength, good TW, but low experience is the only drawback. A need position for me, and I was lucky he was still available.

3rd round: 21 yo SF Blair with pick #77 was my #2 choice. Most players are a gamble in the 3rd round, and so was this one. Interesting player that may be a keeper. No caps on speed means he's easily fast enough for a DB. Yellow on strength could cap below or over 40. Good intel, ok exp, and a trait. I was looking for a SS, but I may move him to FS or CB. I think this is the first time I'll keep a 3rd rounder since I've been in 1.1.

Another good draft, even though I picked at #13.

all the draft players are way too young for my roster - anyone aged under 28 isn't allowed in so just ordered by rating.
