Power Ranking - Dragons 1 - Season 48 - Week 5

- No changes in the Top 4 and in the position of 6 other teams: seems that this is stabilizing.

- Alert Polar Bears (#1) still leading even the bye.

- Biggest rise in this Power Ranking: 7 positions for LoneStar Armadillos (from #16 to #9) after their win over St Pauli Packers (#17).

- Biggest drop: 10 positions for High Desert Outlaws (from #8 to #18) after losing the game and the wallet (he says it above ) against France 2018 ** (#16).

- 4 unbeaten teams, 4 teams without wins.

Good luck and enjoy.

And things are quite difficult for both South divisions...

Well Hello Dragons! My first post game write up for the season. I'm going to try something a little different. I'm going to post shorter write ups for games but look at more games and group the writeup by division.

AC East

Pitzi rallies to beat Panthers 24-17

Although it might be more accurate to say Pizti stopped messing up in the second half as Panthers really had only 1 drive of consequence the first half whilte Pizti failed to convert a 3rd and 3 from the Panther 3 yard line combined with a missed 43 yard field goal. Pizti had a 10-7 half time lead but could have easily had a 17-7 lead. The 3rd quarter was a big 0 for Pizti with Panthers putting together a solid TD drive. The 4th quarter was all Pizti with 2 long touchdown drives to finish it off.

Paladins beat Alert Polar Bears 40-27 but it wasn't a blowout.

How could it not with that score? In the 4th quarter Bears had a 27-26 lead but a touchdown drive by Paladins followed by Bears going for it on 4th and 19 from their 27 yard line which lead to the final touchdown drive on a short field by Paladins. It was a sloppy game by both teams on offense with 3 interceptions that lead to touchdowns and 9 sacks between the teams. Paladins benefited from Bears going for on 4th down deep in their own territory multiple times which lead to 10 of those points.

Pizti is clinging to the division lead but both Bears and them have only 1 loss.

AC North

Read above for Panthers game.

Skidding past Turigtians 27-21

Skidmarks needed the bounces to get past this game. This was sloppy with 4 turnovers, failed 4th downs deep in territory, and sacks by these teams. The first half Skidmark got the ball on the Turigtians 30 yard line with Turigtians going for it on 4th down deep in their territory. 7-0 Skidmarks. Turigtians then drove to the Skidmark 2 and threw an interception returned 43 yards. Skidmarks were unable to do anything with that. Next Turigitians drive is an interception on their own 16 which results in another SKidmark TD. Turigtians get their first score with a long touchdown drive. Skidmarks heave it 43 yards for a touchdown after that. Skidmarks take a 17-7 lead at half time. The second half is more conventional with both teams exchanging touchdown drives and both throw an interception.

Cheshire is smiling after blowing out Westlake 45-27

I honestly don't know what happened in this game. I mean the difference in ratings is over 17% but the 59% rated Cheshire dominated on the scoreboard over the 76% rated Westlake. There wasn't any settings or plays I found that explains it. In any case, nice work Cheshire!

Panthers keep the division lead by 1.

AC South

OTR over Vipers 27-13

This game was a lot closer than the score shows. Vipers were down 13-14 at half time. The 3rd quarter was all punts for both teams except a td drive by OTR. The 4th quarter was disaster for Vipers. Vipers threw back to back interceptions that led to two field goals by OTR. One of those was on the OTR 11 which is double the impact as a loss of probable points plus your opponent scoring. Probably the deciding play of the game.

Chargers lose to Niners 3-30

I was honestly a little worried at halftime with a 6-3 lead even though the 3 points from the chargers was off an interception. The second half was all SF with 4 long scoring drives to eat up 19 of the 30 minutes of the second half clock.

Rio obliterates Godesberg 48-13

Not a lot to say on this one.

Vipers seem to have a hold of this division at the moment.

AC West

See above for Rio. Also Seahawks played the bot team so nothing to review there.

Baltic Over France 37-23

This game is full of turnovers, 4th downs, and more. The game started off with a interception that led to a France TD. Looked like it would be a tough day for Baltic but both teams were generous with giving the ball back to each other the rest of the way. The first half was mostly punts by both teams and Baltic clinging to a 13-10 lead. The second half a little nuts, felt a bit like a pinball game.

What is crazy about this division is the worst record is France at 3-3 but that is the same record as the AC South leader Vipers!

I'll post the NC later today or tomorrow. Guess I didn't keep them that much shorter after all lol.

Since my opening 3 near bot like performances I've dumped 2 million weekly worth of starting talent (several elite level) and went to a weak playbooks (except in 1 game I did want to win) in the hope and anticipation of really good draft order AND a weak schedule for next season. Basically playing not to win without intentionally throwing any games.

This has led to a 3 week win streak. Almost as if skilled talent doesn't mean anything here in div 1..

and that Westlake trouncing by Chesire is a real head scratcher. Almost as if skilled talent means nothing here in div 1.

Week 6 NC Post Write Up

NC East

St. Pauli Scores 17 fourth quarter points to beat Budapest Wolves 24-16

Through the first 3 quarters St. Pauli threw 4 interceptions that Budapest turned into 13 points. With 5 minutes in the the 3rd quarter left Budapest had a 16-7 lead. To this point Budapest had no turnovers. St. Pauli used the last 5 minutes of the 3rd and part of the 4th to put a long touchdown drive together. 16-14 Budapest and they get the ball. This is the point that Budapest fumbles the game away. A single turnover, a fumble, on the next possession turned into a St. Pauli touchdown and a lead they would not relinquish. The St. Pauli can best most anyone if they don't turn it over but that is what they do when they throw so much. They were able to overcome 4 turnovers and still prevail. This also took them to second in the division, passing the Wolves. They are tied with Outlaws who were on a bye with a record of 3-2.

The Ukies were able to break the winless streak to start the season with a dominating 30-16 win over Miami.

Not a lot else to say for this game.

NC North

This is going to be a tough division, much like the AC West. Guess me and Rio switching didn't change much lol. All three undefeated teams are in the west but in the NC the 2 teams that are undefeated have had help with the schedule. Within the next 3 weeks there will be no undefeated left in this division. The worst record is 3-3.

The SF and OTR games are already written above in the AC section. Eagles were on a bye.

Gardians over Nuthuggers 36-20

If you like watching games with big plays then look no further. We had a safety, a 43 yard interception return for a td, and a 47 yard touchdown pass. In the end the Nuthuggers (welcome back by the way) couldn't overcome the 3 interceptions that cost them. Gardians had zero turnovers.

NC South

Funny how the AC and NC West are both doing about the same while the AC and NC south are also doing about the same. So far both have been a hot mess, inside a dumpster fire, inside a train wreck....but there is still time in the season to turn it around.

Werewolves take a bit out of the Dolphins 48-13
The C Dolphins are in the same place the M Dolphins were a season ago. Financial trouble and in the process of tearing it down to restart. The question I have....is why in the hell did Pete allow both Dolphins teams in the same division? lol

BPJ endures 20 point HDO 4th quarter to survive 34-30

These games are so interesting to me. BPJ has the run, run, run, run to set up the big pass strategy. It works mostly and it doesn't seem to matter what defense you run. HDO ran the same defense I would have run the first time playing them with 344 and 443. There is one thing you can change to help that. In any case the BPJ are just so damn efficient with that passing game but that comes at the cost of the running game being a decoy. On the other hand HDO runs similar offenses to those (like myself) that like to run and control the clock. The RZA classic big play offense vs clock control offense. It seems these games come down to how many big plays that big play team can get. Four td's of 59 yards or more is what BPJ got in the first half until the big play failed them in the second half. That is why the scoreboard is inverted. HDO controlled the second half but with that clock control offense the big play doesn't happen as much and you ironically run out of time. HDO is still the likely favorite to claim the division.

NC West

All of these games are written above. That is the nice part about doing it this way, by the time I get to the end there is little left to write. I still think Werewolves repeat as division winners, I expect that BPJ will improve the record, I need to see more from Cheshire, and I'm glad to see Nuthuggers rebound. Could be a fun race to watch!

I was a little bored today and created a sheet with the wages, ELO and Off/Def/ST data of all Dragons 1 teams.

If any of you are curious and want to see them, here they are:

lol you had to be more than a little bit bored. That took some time!

I'm worried about my team after looking at this lol. I'm in the middle for ratings across the board and 7th youngest team. That is fine but the 2nd highest wages with that young of a team means I'll be making hard choices later one.
Part of it is I have more players on my roster than most as I have players ready to step in next season who aren't playing now. But still....

A large payroll doesn't necessarily equate to wins based on the chart.
