When my team punts the ball it seems that the STBL is on the field as well.
6:57 Anibal Figueroa (P) punts the ball from own 48 for 38, Lewis Estep (KR/C) is returning the ball, Ralph Mcnulty (G/R) missed the tackle,Baldur Schmidt (TE/R) missed the tackle,Natia Mateinaqara (TE/L) missed the tackle,tackled by Kadir Salih (OT/L), this was a 11 yards return That makes for a bunch of TE's and FB's trying to make tackles if the gunner misses. Shouldn't STT be on the field with the punter? |

No. The STBL main job is to block for the KR. But also in punting situations they have to protect the P, and they have to tackle the KR, even if that tackles have to be made by an OL or the P sometimes.

But that doesn't make sense. If STBL is protecting the Punter,(from a blocked kick) who is on the other side of the ball? The 2 KR and STT?
This STBL/STT works for kickoffs but is backwards for punts. STT should be protecting the Punter and trying to tackle the returner. STBL should be blocking for the KRs Last edited on 2023-04-16 20:30:09 by Stabler12 |

No.
On the Punt returning team there are the 2 KRs and defensive players (DLs, LBs, CBs and i think also SFs), because the first thing they are trying to do is block/tackle the P. It should be the STT without the G, but the system is picking other player than the ones selected in the STT. This is from the manul. I guess that for Punt and Punt Return the same formations (STBL & STT) apply, but we can't s e l e c t players for these 2 situations. They are randomly chosen i guess. STBL and STT line up "crossed" against each other. This means the STT are filled from left to right, while the STBL are filled from right to left. By this, STT1 is facing STBL1, as example. I'm sorry to be stupid. So stbl/stt has nothing to do with punts. Punt team is the offense plus the punter and 2 Gunners.

Given that there are separate depth charts for K, G, STT, KR and STBL, is this actually a thing or are the K, G and KR placed automatically by the engine like QB, RB, FG, WR, etc. for every play that isn't special teams? |

Just place K as K, P as P, KR as KR, G as G, STBL as STBL and STT as STT. Do not put more into the whole than there is really to it.
