This week has a couple of games I would like to pay attention to: RC Frogs (4-1) @ Boonley Bulldozers (6-0), and the Totoras Patriots (5-1) @ Vicious Attack Dogs (3-2), as the marquee matchups. Then the Rome Centurions (5-0) @ East Coast Crushers (3-3), Fredericksburg Comanches (3-3) @ Wolflings (6-0), will make for good “ Trap Matches” I feel.

Here are the results, and that Boonley and RC game was a good one!

Boonley 24, RC 18
Totoras 55, Vicious 27
Rome 31, East Coast 19
Wolflings 28, Fredericksburg 3

Closest game of the day went to Kalapana 26, Duluth 24. Kalapana pulled out a win in the 4th as this was a nail biter the entire way.

great write up again Kevin! Only thing I disagree with is my finishing in 1st in our division. It is WAY too tough a division to crown anyone as a favorite. Personally, I think our division will all come down to the final game of the season to determine a winner. All 4 spots could be determined that day and someone will be left out of the playoffs. That would be a great ending to the season, but horrible for 1 or 2 teams.

That would be something for it to be a 4 way race at the end... probably not though as my team got blasted today. My defense has been solid all year despite shaky cornerback play
Today all 11 starters on the field as well as the backups took the game off it seems.

Office Sticky Post-It Notes After Week 7... about Touchdown difference and going for it in 4th down

#1 Looking at last season’s final standings, there’s a possible way to have a positive TD difference and finish with a losing record.

#2 I also noticed that NO TEAM with a negative TD difference finished at or above .500

#3 That’s not to say it can’t happen… but it’s kind of surprising.

#4 You see a team can play a lot of opponents close, and win those games, but/ and have gotten blitz by one team, thus bringing his total TD difference into the negative.

#5 For example, they could win games 18-14, thus giving up 2 touchdowns while scoring none themselves. The 18 points coming off 6 field goals.

#6 Anyway, there are currently 10 teams with a negative TD difference, and all have losing records. There are also 2 teams even in the TD difference… they have losing records as well.

#7 Every team with a positive TD difference currently has a winning record.

#8 A question to ask active managers would be when going for it on 4th down makes the most sense?

#9 Some teams go for it backed up on their own 30. Gutsy I’d say. But I’m more interested in those who have several complex rules.

#10 I have rules for when to go for it on fourth down, but my rules seem to get added when I fail in certain situations.

#11 For example in both my matches vs one of my rivals last season, I kicked a late 4th quarter field goal from within the 5-yard line when I was down more than 3 points. It wasn’t until seasons end where I made the adjustment as I always wait until the offseason. ( Don’t ask me why)

This week has a couple of games I would like to pay attention to:
Inbhir Narann (4-3) @ Amersfoort Alligators (4-2)
Kalapana Wild Thangs (5-1) @ Landru Athletics (4-3)
RC Frogs (4-2) @ Rome Centurions ( 6-0)

Your Opinions Are Greatly Valued.

I predict Landrau will beat us by more than 20 pts.

No clue on when it is most beneficial to go for it on 4th. I think that is a personal choice depending on how you want to play Kevin. Like you said, some teams are going for it on 4th when they are on their own 30, but that may depend on if they are far enough ahead or if they are behind and wanting to make a comeback instead of punting the ball. Kind of all depends on what you want, and if you are wanting to risk turning the ball over inside your own territory (lord knows I have done that!)

Btw, Game of the week this past week was Barossa Bulldogs 32, East Coast Crushers 34. Great 4th quarter as well!!!! It sure was anyone's game!

I sometimes try to go for the 4th time when it's a close game but I'm leading. It's like pulling the plug out. If I succeed, game is more likely to finish in my favor. If not, a lot more fun. But I don't do it for important games

Sounds good Kevin. I will highlight a few games that we need to pay attention to then!

Barossa Bulldogs 2-6 vs Duluth Eskimos 2-6

Kokomo Mantis 6-2 vs. Inbhir Narinn 4-4 (I don't care who has what record in this series, as they are always great games!

Norfolk Destroyers 3-5 vs. Waukesha Wolverines 2-6

Rome Centurians 7-1 vs. Kalapana Wild Thangs 6-2 (this should be a great game. Both teams are routinely in the playoffs and may be a game we could see in the playoffs later this season. They have not faced each other in a few seasons, but this could be the game of the week)

Spitting Llamas 5-3 vs. Valiant Pinoys 3-5 (these two teams normally provide us some great games just like the Mantis and Narinn game above. Pinoys have a 5-3 lead in the series between them and this is anyone's game!)

Vicious Attack Dogs 4-4 vs. Totoras Patriots 7-1 (let's see if the Attack Dogs can turn around their previous loss to the Patriots earlier in the season. Last game was 55-27 Patriots).
