It’s Game Day 9, and we find ourselves in this strange transition period when we’re about to enter the back-end of the schedule. The tension begins to climb, every game starts to feel like the most important of the season (at least for some of us… I’m well aware that others do sit quite comfortably already
). Always the most important games to win are divisional match-ups, and we got 2 of them today happening at the same time:
Us SEA LIONS welcome the Cheltenham Bobbers to Hammer Sports Park. At the end of an errant train of thought the Manager of the SEA LIONS did organize a friendly match between these two and chose to field his starting squad in the first quarter yesterday. They did their job well, and it was a success in regard to getting them in playing rhythm again after the bye week. But given the fact that they only played the back-ups we came away with a little concern about having angried the Biggest Dragon now It’s the first of three home games in a row, though, and those are the ones we need to win badly… so we’re hoping to surprise him one way or another
In the other game the leader of the NC West, the Brookfield Ukies, takes on the Pizti Beltzak, who are only 1 win behind them at #4 in the division. It’s a chance for the Brookies to pull away from two opponents with one single win. But it’s also a chance for the Black Beasts to get themselves into a great position before going into their late bye-week. Good luck to everyone today ![]() |

What a win!
The Defense came up big again, holding the Bobbers to one TD and 3 Fieldgoals. That allowed the Offense to slowly gain it's footing. Newly minted QB1 Bryant Stover had some difficulties and needed to leave the field twice because of injuries. Both times the "old" QB, Navdeep Pawan, took the opportunity to score a touchdown on those offensive possessions. And with the Brookies losing to the Beasts we suddenly sit atop the NC West. It is crazy sometimes ![]() |

Congrats to the Falcons in beating us 23-16. Their defence made some big plays: we gave up a fumble and two interceptions - one returned for a TD. Meanwhile, the Elephants (a return to better form) and SD Blitz both had good wins. Altogether, a bad day for the Exiles in NC South.

It is again a sheer delight to play in the most exciting division in all of RZA. Three teams with three wins, two teams with 5 losses… it doesn’t get any closer than that. It will be another one of those season in which 8 wins will provide a good position in the division to either push for the playoffs or avoid relegation. 9 wins will probably secure another go-around in the Elite next season. It’s eight weeks to go. And all teams still have to at some point face the Willoughby Wookies, fastest rising star in the Elite right now. Let’s dive into the regular Midseason Edition of
The Battle for the NC West HAMBURG SEA LIONS (4–4) In a crazy turn of events the HAMBURG SEA LIONS sit atop the NC West. They made an obviously overdue change at the still most crucial position on the field, and were able to turn around their worst start to a season in the Elite into being even halfway through. The next game will the last one in a stretch of 3 home games, and they will be the first to welcome the Willoughby Wookies in this one. They have to go to the Stone Mountain Hawks after that, then face the Dumbarajko Elephants at home before going on the road for three consecutive games. It is a tough stretch, but there are still 4 divisional match-ups for them to play through the final games scheduled… and if they win them and steal maybe one from their other opponents there’s a clear path to make another season in the Elite happen. Remaining schedule: vs. Willoughby Wookies, @ Stone Mountain Hawks 2, vs. Dumbarajko Elephants, @ Chelt Nam Bobbers, @ Brookfield Ukies, @ Glasgow Tigers, vs. Pitzi Beltzak, vs. Brookfield Ukies Brookfield Ukies (4–4) The Brookies followed up their greatest start to a season in the Elite with an eyebrow-raising record of 1–3 in their last four games. They are 2–1 in divisional match-ups and still have, as their manager pointed out not long ago, still the bot team in the league to play, so week 16 is a gimme for them. Before that, though, they have to visit the Chelt Nam Bobbers next, then be the second team to have the Willoughby Wookies visiting. Missouri Misery after that, the KMN Mandalorians… there’s still some tough games to play before that. And they still have to play the HAMBURG SEA LIONS twice, which will be crucial down the line. Remaining schedule: @ Chelt Nam Bobbers, vs. Willoughby Wookies, @ Missouri Misery, @ Glasgow Tigers, vs. HAMBURG SEA LIONS, vs. KMN Mandalorians, @ Mustangs, @ HAMBURG SEA LIONS Pizti Beltzak (4–5) The Black Beasts also had their best start to an Elite season: Never have they been able to get to more than 3 wins halfway through the season. They go into their late bye-week after winning a big one against a division opponent, with whom they made even on the win-column. That one was important because the Beasts only have two more divisional match-ups on their schedule, @ SEA LIONS on second-to-last and the Bobbers at home on the last game day of the regular season. Before that they are on the road for visits @ the Kraken, @ the TigerCats and @ the Willoughby Wookies… so it’ll be some tough sledding’ gathering 5 more wins for the Pizti down the stretch. Remaining schedule: bye, vs Glasgow Tigers, @ Space Kraken, @ TigerCats, vs. Stone Mountain Hawks 2, @ Willoughby Wookies, @ HAMBURG SEA LIONS, vs. Chelt Nam Bobbers Chelt Nam Bobbers (3–5) The Bobbers have had their worst start to a season since S56, when they also started 3–5, only to ultimately win the division with a 9–7 record and even win a playoff game in the aftermath. They did win their road-games in the first half of that season, though, something they do seem to have trouble with nowadays. They need to find their mojo again to win those away games, as they will be key if they want to secure another season in the Elite. They have games @ the Social Distance Runners, @ the Willoughby Wookies, @ the Suchdol Minors and @ Pizti Beltzak still coming up, with another 2 divisional home games somewhere in between. The latter are crucial as well, as the Bobbers lost both away-games @ the Brookies and @ the SEA LIONS, and now must at least avoid to be swept by either one of them. It could well be that it comes down to the last two games if they can make it or not. Remaining schedule: vs. Brookfield Ukies, @ Social Distance Runners, @ Willoughby Wookies, vs. HAMBURG SEA LIONS, @ Suchdol Minors, vs. Rockford River Rats, vs. Glasgow Tigers, @ Pizti Beltzak It is another exciting season in the NC West ![]() |

It’s Game Day 10 today and, as mentioned in the overview posted earlier today, three of the four teams in our fine division play big games today while one sits and watches.
The latter are the Black Beasts who just come off an important win against the Brookies. Now they are forced to observe how this game day shakes out. The Brookfield Ukies, after losing to the Pizti, have their next match-up with a division opponent right away. They visit the Bobbers of Cheltenham on whom they have a one game lead in the division and already won the first get-together in Week 2. As always, though, the Bobbers have a better PD than any other NC-West resident, and will, if they win this home game and the SEA LIONS lose, jump back to #1 in the division. The HAMBURG SEA LIONS have their third home game in a row, and will be the first to encounter the mighty Willoughby Wookies from the AC North. The latter still have not lost a game in what’s their first season in the Elite, and they are another team whose key to success lies within an intricate defensive scheme. There’s almost no offensive formation that’s not met with up to five different defenses over the course of a game. We hope that our new QB1, who has a lot of experience already, won’t be rattled too much by that and can find ways to score. Maybe we can make something happen today. Would certainly be a great start to the second half of the season
Good luck to everyone today ![]() |

It’ll sound like a broken record, but:
What a win!!!
We led the Wookies the whole game, never truly let them get rolling. Our Defense again did an enormous job today, taking the ball away twice which allowed us to score 10 points off of that. Their defense was magnificent also, so it was 20:20 with just under 6 minutes to go. And then our young QB, who struggled to get something going all game, led the squad down the field… never with big plays, but slowly moving forward, taking time off the clock, to get the Kicker in great position for a game winner
Still leading the NC West ![]() |

Still leading the NC West ![]() Congrats on the well-deserved win Chrill. The picks cost us in this one. And yes, great methodical drive at the end!
