The Bootcamp Cup is over again, 5 weeks fly by in a hurry these days. We have a winner, and here's one last look at the final game that happened yesterday:
Hemet Hooligans 35:19 BobBoy Magpies The Magpies got the Ball first and opened the game with 4 consecutive completions by their QB for 27 Yards. But before they could get into any kind of rhythm they were stopped by the Defense of the Hemet Hooligans. And right from their first offensive possession the visiting team looked like they were on a mission, marching down the field scoring the first TD with a balanced 13 Plays 90 Yards Drive. After that the Defense of the Hooligans stopped the Offense of the Magpies time and time again, even held them to a FG after an Interception on their own 29 Yard line. They did not let the Magpies go on a real scoring drive until after the break, when the home team managed to score a FG on their sole possession in Q3 and their first TD with only 3:34 minutes to go in Q4. And while the Defense took the ball away from their opponent, the Offense of the Hooligans showed a very diverse and far more balanced outing than at the beginning of this cup, even running in a TD in Q3 with 8 consecutive Rushing Plays for 68 Yards. In the end it was an all around impressive performance by the Hemet Hooligans, the new champion of the Bootcamp Friendly Cup. I LOVE the progress the Hooligans made over the course of this Cup. I would not, of course, put it on my input that they got away from passing all game, but it seems apparent that their success comes with having a more balanced playbook compared to their first game in this tournament. They ran the ball a bit more each game, and although they did not win their games in shootout fashion, they always controlled ball and clock, thus winning the clever way. And this translated to success in their league games, too. They have not lost a match-up in the Monarchs-league since the beginning of October and will play for the title on Tuesday against the Trnava Saints. If they continue to play as balanced offensively and especially as uncompromising defensively as they did yesterday they’ll have great chance to end this season winning more than the one title. And that’s all, folks, for this Newbie Bootcamp Friendly Cup. I hope everyone had fun and maybe learned a thing or two. If you have questions please feel free to send a message, I’ll be trying to answer as helpful as possible. Enjoy the offseason, and have a good start to season 54 |

As we're nearing the end of Season 56 and your's truly is seriously thinking about another edition of this very friendly cup, the thoughts of what can be further advised in this thread took form. We covered the basics very will, I would think, and those who participated in the tournaments and are still within the game do pretty good:
The Copenhagen Chargers (formerly LizBiz) lead the NC North in the Fire league and are locked in for the postseason, as are the Braska Bangers 09 in the AC East of that same league (who already had a season of playing Elite level RZA-football in S55) as well as the Neptunes in the AC East of the Claymore league. mCon is still very much in the mix for a playoff spot in the AC North of the Galaxy league, where the Leadhills Wonderers rival Kirky44's for the #1 spot in the NC East, also. It is as joy everytime to follow their paths, as they managed to get to a point of playing this game to a pretty high level. The SEA LIONS, meanwhile, have played another three seasons in the Elite league, which we entered in S53. Every one of these seasons was emotionally challenging in very different ways, but we learned a lot from them nonetheless. A lot of these learnings are about investiment, how deep a manager is willing to go down the rabbit hole of RZA... and with that accept, embrace and overcome road blocks that just seem random and inexplicable at times. Those managers still running scrimmages 3 times a week to work on their playbook despite having played this game for 56 seasons are at the top for a reason, and I think I have discovered some things that are worth sharing. So watch out for new edition of this Cup to start soon. And for the near future: Good luck for the remainder of the season |

Until now 4 fresh faces joined the Cup, that's awesome. I have just sent invitations to maybe get some more beginners to participate. When the Draft is over I'll open the Cup for everybody, as 2 veteran managers are already waiting to be confirmed to play with us.

We hope everyone had a good start to season 57. The HAMBURG SEA LIONS lost their first game 17:18 to the Kicker of the Mustangs, but were able to rebound and win the second one yesterday at Pizti Beltzak 27:20.
In both games a new playbook was used which we set up in this past offseason, and it's a mean one... as it is a playbook that we "stole" from someone else who beat us twice last season despite having a squad that was by far not as good as ours. That will be something to tell ya'll more about once the new Bootcamp Cup has started. Speaking of which: Sadly no other newbie wanted to play the Cup, so I have confirmed two veteran managers, Buziano and johnstadt, for the spots #6 and #7. Two more veteran managers already expressed their interest to play with us, so we'll be full soon and can start to play |
