An hour ago I negotiated with a free agent via contract mode - ID: 101221719. He had less than 24 hrs until his deadline and so I thought I'd be able to sign him. I gave him an offer he should've accepted, but instead of signing the game gave me some message about cheating. The player never got signed and still belongs to no team. He is also now removed from the transfer market.
Perhaps there is a bug caused by my team playing a game while I was trying to sign him. Maybe I should've waited until after the game? I'm not sure, but I still want to get him on my team if possible. I only recently started the HR department so please forgive me if I'm missing something here. |

It said something like “RZA is a game it’s not worth cheating.” I don’t know exactly though it only popped up for a second before closing out. I wasn’t cheating though I was just trying to sign someone. I could try to replicate it next time I play a game but then I might end up with someone on my team I don’t actually want

I found
FA Player 101221719 User * Team 3133 has no transfer deadline means, the player was not transferlisted at the time you send your bid. Are you sure, he was open for negotiation? |

Yes I am sure. I placed a bid pretty quickly after the option became available because the last guy I tried to bid got grabbed by another team immediately. So yes he was definitely open for negotiation (otherwise I wouldn't have been able to bid at all) but it had only been a minute.

Looks like another manager was doing the same, and failed to negotiate. By this, he kept himself from getting the player, and you from making valid bids. After the negotiation fails at the 5th attempt, players give up their free agent status.

So someone else bid on him 5 times and failed before I was able to place my first bid? Not sure how that is possible I thought I was pretty quick.

The error message means, that you made a bid on a player that was not transferlisted in the moment of the bid. There are only 2 ways to have this:
1.) the bid period ran out meanwhile 2.) another team either made a successful bid and got the player, or voided the transfer deadline by adding up to 5 unsuccessful bids Is 1 a possible option, did you pay attention to the deadline? |

No 1 is not possible. There was still 23 hours and 59 minutes before deadline.
