The first great defensive ambush came when San Diego, facing a demanding fourth down near Mandalorian territory, saw Melík swallowed by Ruan Mungomeni. The Blitz surrendered the ball on downs, a turnover of habitat control rather than possession by theft. KMN tried to exploit the gift, but the Blitz defense compressed space and forced the visitors away from the end zone.

In the second quarter, special teams became a sudden predator. Cyrus Hefner returned a punt with enough violence and elegance to give San Diego prime hunting ground, and the Blitz converted the opportunity when Carter Garris caught a short pass in the end zone. KMN still produced one final sustained march, with Erdogan Köhler, Al Bailey, Dwayne Dixon, Hendrie Bruce, Max Lattibeaudiere, and others carrying the Mandalorians through a long sequence of survival football. Köhler eventually caught a touchdown pass, and Kinsey added the extra kick. Yet San Diego answered not with spectacle but with clock control, using Teddy Bennett, Vid Balog, Jack Hawks, and Gaplan Stteiner to drain the remaining life from the contest.

There were injuries, returns, sacks, interceptions, missed kicks, field goals, touchdowns, a safety, and two turnovers on downs: a full biological catalogue of playoff football behavior. The San Diego Blitz proved the more adaptable animal, while the KMN Mandalorians showed resilience but lost too many territorial duels at decisive moments.
