The anniversary season 50 of RZA
 is right around the corner, and to celebrate even more the HAMBURG SEA LIONS are happy to invite to their first Friendly Cup
New Year's Frenzy 22/23 
which will be played on Sundays. And yes, since New Year IS on a Sunday 2023, we're eager to fill the cup in the next two weeks to have a game day then... or maybe even start the cup on the first day of 2023

Happy new year to you all
It’s game day 1 on day 1 of 2023 and therefore the start into the very first edition of the „NEW YEAR’S FRENZY“-Friendly-Cup
At 12 o’clock the cup will be kicked off by a slate of 4 games: In Group 2 the Alaskan Fur Traders take a trip to Ralph Wilson Stadium, the home field of Hell A Rams. Group 3 sees Melittlemenon thepitchhitchin, coming off a league-bye, matching up with the Fredericksburg Comanches. In Group 4 the Ruhrpott Miners welcome the Constanta Ravens to the Coal Mine, and at Central Arena the home team Guardians await the visit of Fighting Frankonian for a battle of two NC-West-Teams. At 15 o’clock the Glastonbury Grail Knights come to battle the HAMBURG SEA LIONS in Hammer Sports Park. At 1800 the Fargo Knights visit their Elite-NC-North-Division-rival Lincoln Towncars in which will be their first encounter of the season. And one hour later NEW YEAR’S FRENZY proudly presents the „Match of the Day“ for everyone to enjoy when the Bretzfeld Bandits take on the Social Distance Runners. Both started 5–0 in their respective leagues, so it’s not that far fetched to assume it will be an entertaining showing. The game day is rounded off at 2100 with the first night game of the NEW YEAR’s FRENZY Friendly Cup, played at the home of the Morgantown Mad Dogs who get a visit of the Deimon Devil Bats. Winning against a strong team as the one of Bretzfeld is a huge and unexpected honor for my team ! I didn't expect my team to win. Especially the first half was sensational. My defence showed up big and my offense was really good as well. Both were a bit tired after this first half but I take 42-24 any time any day ! Thank you for this Friendly cup, Chrill ! This is fun ! |

Game Day 1 saw a lot of surprising outcomes, and Game Day 2 will now have all games but one where a winner meets a loser from the previous round. A lot of teams feel the win-now-sweat already next sunday, us included  |

I just looked at Sunday's match hoping for a chill afternoon. It might get chilly though as the Fargo Knights have a well higher ranking than my club.

My team is pumped. The SuperCup win of yesterday did a whole lot of good to the team confidence. And we have some new players joining the club. They come for the Incredible Malones and will bring some real championship mentality to our Runners ! |

It’s Game Day 2, and half the teams already are in win-now-mode since they lost the first game and only have 2 more chances to right the ship.
At 1200 we start with the only game of the day where both teams look for the first win in the tournament when Fighting Frankonian visits Ravens Field, home of the Constanta Ravens. At 1700 follows the second game of Group 4 when the Ruhrpott Miners welcome the Guardians, both trying to make a big step to advance to the KO round with a win. Both games in Group 1 are played at 1800, with the Lincoln Towncars matching up with the Bretzfeld Bandits, while the Social Distance Runners visit the Fargo Knights in another „Game of the Day“ presented by the NEW YEAR’S FRENZY-Friendly Cup. The Bandits and the Knights must win to keep their chances for the playoffs alive. At 1900 the Alaskan Fur Traders go to Deimon High School, where the Devil Bats will try to maintain their hopes for the KO round with a home win. Finally there will be 3 night games: Hell A Rams must win at the Morgantown Mad Dogs. The HAMBURG SEA LIONS must find a way to defend HAMMER SPORTS PARK against the visiting Fredericksburg Comanches. And in the second game of Group 3 Melittlemenon thepitchhitchin and the Glastonbury Grail Knights match up for a Battle of Britain at the Isle of Avalon, with the Grail Knights having the advantage of home field AND being one up in the win column. It’s their second meeting in 24 hours, having played a league game at the same spot just yesterday with the Grail Knights winning. Can Melittlemen get revenge for a chance to advance in the cup? |
