Speed

Speed is a very important skill in American football. It helps on breaking tackles as well as avoiding / making sacks, it helps running faster than the defender, and it helps catching a running away receiver or ball carrier. Each single interception or fumble gets returned for a score? It seems the returner is faster than your guys are. Last but not least: special team plays are all about speed.

There is a hidden cap, so the player is limited, and cannot raise his speed to level 50. You will see a yellow warning sign behind the speed value in the player details, if he is near the cap. How early you will see it depends on the quality of your Scout. You will see a red warning sign behind the speed value in the player details, if he hit the cap already. Once the player hits the cap he could still gain training points and raise the speed, but it is much harder for him - he simply needs more training to make progress.
